How should we pray? Why do we not pray?1. We are not dependent on God- Dependent people pray- We are unaware of our intense, daily need for God to work on our behalf- In our thinking, we must separate our “doing” from our “relying”2. We don’t really believe it will make a difference- "Prayer is a mighty instrument, not for getting man’s will done in heaven, but for getting God’s will done on earth” – Robert Law- “Our great hope in prayer, therefore, is not to change what God has planned, but to bring about what God has planned.” - Unknown- If our prayers bring about God’s plan, do we believe that God has a plan today?- We should assume that God wants to bring about His will through the prayers of His people3. It is self-denying, flesh-defying hard work- Devoted people pray

The breaking of bread means...REMEMBERING2. The breaking of bread strengthens my faith in God’s COVENANT PROMISES3. The breaking of bread satisfies our desire of KNOWING and HONORING CHRIST4. The breaking of bread focuses us on WHAT GOD HAS DONE rather than on what we must do5. The breaking of bread reinforces GOD’S LOVE FOR ME Which motivates my love for Him Which drives my obedience to Him6. The breaking of bread is a way of FIXING OUR EYES ON WHAT IS UNSEEN7. The breaking of bread recognizes that WE ARE ALL UNITED “IN CHRIST”

It is the seed of salvationmeans believing that God is truly speaking whenever scripture is read ...and rightly taughtmeans that we know that scripture has spiritual power to transformmeans that it is the source for our sanctificationmeans that it must first impact the teacher before it impacts the studentmeans that it is everything we need for life and godlinessmeans that the Word of God must be publicly proclaimed ...whether it is well received or notmeans that the Word must also be personally administeredmeans that we must realize that sound doctrine will not always sound good to us
